For almost 50 years, a group of organizations has worked together across Northeast Florida to prevent and end homelessness. And each year, this group grows larger, expanding to ensure coverage of each square mile in the tri-county area and all who live here.
After nearly half a century of working together, the unexpected happened: a global pandemic.
COVID-19 plunged our nation into an economic crisis that put many at risk of becoming homeless and our local community felt it all the same. Housing quickly became the most a critical component of the ‘safer at home’ order, and the federal government simultaneously stepped forward with an influx of funding and resources, resulting in the creation of our Housing Services Team.
At Changing Homelessness, the goal of the Housing Services Team is to build relationships with landlords and property managers to maximize housing opportunities for those experiencing homelessness. Our team centralizes and streamlines communication between landlords, property managers, and case managers from over 40 local agencies, including property listings, tenant support, and more.
Housing is the most effective solution to ending homelessness and your role as a landlord or property manager is vital in this work. During the last quarter of 2021, our Housing Services Team was able to assist in placing 120 families into housing through landlord partnerships. Together, we’re charting a path toward ending homelessness. Having a place to call home is achievable when we work together!
In the meantime, if you are a landlord or property manager, please see our flyer from the Housing Services Team! We developed this document with you in mind!
